-Dark Thorn was a soldier in Canterlot serving as part of the royal guard. His father was a royal guard and Dark Thorn aspired to be a hero like him. Dark Thorn's father died a happy stallion seeing his son in his exact position and was able to live his passion again vicariously through his son. Dark Thorn was saddened by his father's passing, but found solace in the fact that he had made him proud.

-He was a Sergeant in Canterlot's military. When offered to be a lieutenant, he refused because he always wanted to be where the action was. Dark Thorn was a highly respected soldier in his unit for always looking after his comrades and being a "jack of all trades" in the field. His military friends gave him a nickname, "Brick", because he hit like a ton of bricks and was seemingly as tough as a brick wall.

-He was born and raised in Canterlot, lived with his father and enjoyed the high quality nature of his surroundings.

-Dark Thorn has a secret hobby, writing romantic literature. He see's himself has having a hard shell but a soft heart. His inspiration comes from the love displayed from other couples combined with his own imagination. He keeps his romantic work private because of embarrassment.

-On his time off, he would most likely be found writing, exercising, or relaxing at the park.

-When Dark Thorn moved to Ponyville, he fell in love with a pony named Sun Spark. He loved her upbeat nature and ability to lift the spirits of other ponies. They got married after six months.

-Dark Thorn made Sun Spark's dream come true, giving her a child. But when all seemed well, tragedy struck. Sun Spark died due to complications of the birth. Dark Thorn, traumatized by the events that occured, took his child home while his mind was flooded with the image of his wife's corpse. Dark Thorn raised his child in silence for four years until he broke his silence.... with violence. Dark Thorn turned bitter towards his child, seeing him as a monster for taking the life of his wife. He harshly "disciplined" his son for two years until his only child ran away to the Everfree Forest. With his only child now gone, Dark Thorn believed he had nothing else to live for and tried to take his own life. Though he wanted to, Dark Thorn couldn't sum up the courage to end his life. He decided to live his life as a recluse, punishing himself for becoming something that his father and his wife would both despise. Dark Thorn now yearns to see his son again, to earn the forgiveness of both his son and his wife. He hears more and more tales of a shaman pony who lives in the Everfree Forest. He knows of nopony that lives in the Everfree Forest but this shaman pony. He writes a letter asking this shaman pony to visit him. Now he can only wait for the knock on his door, hoping that his son is on the other side. Hoping to give a loving embrace to the pony now known as Xander. Dark Thorn has since made up with and granted forgiveness from his son Xander. Dark Thorn now spends as much time with his son as he can to give his son the love he never gave him as a child.

-The symbol on his armor is his deceased wife's cutie mark. To always have her close to his heart.

Strengths:
-Very durable, can take a lot of punishment.
-Physically strong, can stagger opponents with few attacks.
-Trained as a royal guard, he is hardened and very disciplined.
-Has years of battlefield experience, can coordinate strategies on the fly.

Weaknesses:
-Due to past traumatic experiences, he can still suffer emotionally.
-Not very agile.

Special moves:
-"Ground & Pound": Dark Thorn mounts a downed opponent and starts raining blows until his opponent can counter or his opponent gives up.

-"Counter Stance": When Dark Thorn goes into a counter stance, he is prepared to block or parry any attack that his opponent may throw at him.

-"Takedown": Dark Thorn grabs his opponent and viciously throws the opponent to ground. Dark Thorn may also transition into a "Ground & Pound" using this attack.
